Flapjack’s life had been prefect prospecting for gold in Alaska the last ten years, but it got turned upside down by a chain of events that left him near death. First his partner, George, died and left half of the land to his city slicker nephew, Mark. Flapjack had promised George he would help Mark all he could. Then Suzi showed up claiming to be his daughter. This was highly unlikely, since Flapjack had never had any children. Next Norman, a local mining company owner, started pestering Flapjack to sell his land. Norman started dating Suzi and after Flapjack refused to sell, a series of accidents started happening to Flapjack. They were small ones at first, but they built up to a life-threatening cave-in, trapping Flapjack in the mineshaft with little hope and even less air. The chances of him surviving the cave-in looked slim.
