Loretta loved her position as a nurses aide in a small rural hospital located in an agricultural area in central Minnesota. Loretta assisted many patients. One in particular caught her attention, a tiny elderly lady who had been admitted several times over the past three years. The lady impressed those around her with her charm and wisdom. Mrs. Roberts told fascinating stories about actual events that happened during a time of great despair and conflict. Her favorite subject was her only grandson, Bill, who was stationed at Pearl Harbor. She spoke of him often, in a soft, hypnotic voice that suggested she was reliving the events of her life. Why am I so drawn to her, Loretta wondered? Maybe she longed for the insightful talks and special relationship she had with her brother Ken. He was only seventeen when he joined the service. Shortly after boot camp, Ken was sent overseas. Now the peace treaty had been signed and Ken was missing in action. Would Loretta ever see her brother Ken again? What life changing effect would Mrs. Roberts have on her destiny?
