The Discards is a look into the lives of an undistinguished group of people living inside a midwestern trailer park. It’s the story of single mom Daisy Franklin, her teenage son, and her languid boyfriend. It’s the story of the disjointed Croker family and their attempt to capture the American dream. It’s the story of middle-aged bachelor Bart Osmond and his desperate search for true love. It’s the story of the Shimmers, a bitter, unsatisfied couple in their twilight years. Collectively these people are the discards–individuals on life’s bottom rung. They’re the kind of people nobody envies and the kind of people nobody wants to become. As their lives unfold inside the aging trailer park, the discards react to what life throws at them. Sometimes it’s funny, sometimes it’s sad, sometimes it’s unbelievable, but it’s always entertaining. Welcome to the world of The Discards.
