One of the oldest and most prestigious law enforcement agencies in the world-the Federal Bureau of Investigation-is experiencing serious problems. The agency has a spy in its midst and a suspected information leak. Eric Stone, the associate director of security, learns that the FBI is about to be removed from the information loop unless the agency can fix its internal problems. Then, Walter Keith, a retired engineer and author, is hired onto Stone’s staff. As Walter is drawn into more and more dangerous scenarios, he finds himself paired with a beautiful agent who stirs his imagination. Walter’s strength of character, and that of his partner, are stretched to the limit, as Walter unwittingly becomes an agent by default.
