Can an Alligator Drive a Nail with His Tail? began in Richardson, Texas, 1965. Each night when Ben would rock his young son, David, at bedtime he would sing Can an Alligator Drive a Nail with His Tail?, making up verses that rhymed as he went along. Two years later Ben introduced his daughter, Jana, to the alligator song. When David asked his dad to write down the words so he could sing it to his sons, we decided to put something on paper to pass along to our grandchildren, who are Rachel, Carter, Philip, Kyle and Ryan. Hopefully, Dale the alligator will become a part of your familyas bedtime routine as it did ours.
