Time for Uncle Guido is the story of a wonderful, fictitious character who has become the patron saint of our group of brain-injured people. Uncle Guido was created quite by accident. The incident was frightening at the time but has now become quite funny. I invoked Uncle Guido when my mother and I were in a threatening situation. It worked, although my dear sweet mother looked at me after the perpetrator was gone and said, Honey, you don’t have an Uncle Guido. My response was, Mom, IMPROVISE. From that moment on, Uncle Guido was called upon whenever the going got tough. How fitting for Uncle Guido to be the force behind bringing brain injury awareness to the masses. Gabriella and her cohorts have a big job to accomplish. If they want to draw attention to the plight of aneurysm and AVM survivors they would need someone bigger than life to help. Viola! Uncle Guido has arrived.
