Some Account of the Schism Which Took Place During the Last Century Amongst the Free and Accepted Masons in England and the Insignia of the Royal Arch

Rev George Oliver

  1. This title shows the presumed origin of the Royal Arch degree in a letter to Robert T. Crucefix, Grand Master of S.G.I.G. for England and Wales. Following the writing of this letter, Rev. Oliver was favored by Brother Willoughby of Birkenhead with a sight of a very old floor cloth painted on silk, belonging to a Royal Arch chapter in the city of Chester, and used only a very few years after the degree was admitted into the system of Constitutional Masonry. This ancient document offers a confirmation of the opinion expressed in the following pages respecting the transfer of the latter portion of the 3rd Degree to the Royal Arch.
