Angel Island

Inez Haynes Gillmore

  1. This is a fantastic tale of shipwreck. Five men, the only survivors of a tremendous storm, find themselves on an uninhabited island. They gather as much flotsam from the sunken ship as they can, and with no hope of rescue, begin a new life. One night, Billy finds himself wide awake, staring into the eyes of a woman. Thinking it is only a dream, he falls back into sleep. As the nights go by, the other men find themselves having the same dream. But, one night they see what appears to be a group of five huge birds flying toward the island. As the birds come closer, the men are surprised to learn the birds are really five beautiful, winged women. These winged women never come close enough to the ground to be captured, so the men devise a plan to catch them. Who are these women? Do they bring joy or danger?
