Gods of the Egyptians V2
Professor E A Wallis Budge, Sir
- Other volumes in this set include ISBN number(s): 0766129861. Volume II of II. Budge, of the British Museum, is considered to be one of the foremost Egyptologists of the 20th Century. Today, this work is often given mixed reviews. Some believe it to be thorough, useful coverage of the gods of Ancient Egypt, with full information on the origins of the ancient religion; evolution of cults, rites and gods; the cult of Osiris; the Book of the Dead and its rites; and much other secret wisdom. Others believe this work is tainted by Budge’s dated views and what are considered now to be politically incorrect characterizations of the Egyptians. Considering it is considered to be a standard work in the history of religion it is probably well worth a read to decide for oneself. Content: Amen, and Amen-Ra, and the Triad of Thebes; Hapi, the God of the Nile; The Triad of Elephantine; Aten, the God and Disk of the Sun; The Great Company of the Gods of Heliopolis; Osiris; Hymns to Osiris; Hymns to Osiris from the Book of the Dead; Hymn to Osiris-Hieroglyphic Text with Interlinear Transliteration and Translation; The Names of Osiris; Plutarch’s Mythological History of Isis and Osiris; Asar-Hapi or Serapis; Isis; The Sorrows of Isis; Set and Nephthys; Anpu or Anubis; Cippi of Horus; Foreign Gods; Miscellaneous Gods; and Sacred Animals and Birds, etc.; The sorrows of Isis; Sacred animals and birds, etc. See other works by this author available from Kessinger Publishing.
