The History of Sacerdotal Celibacy in the Christian Church

This work was written as a historical study. It was the author’s aim to avoid polemics, and he therefore sought merely to state facts as he found them, without regard to their bearing on either side of the question involved. The scope of this work is designedly confined to the enforced celibacy of the sacerdotal class, and other classes are pointedly not included.
