Spanish Language Variation and Change
Lewis Chadwick Howe (The University of Georgia, USA)
Variation and Change in Spanish provides students with an accessible introduction to observing and understanding language change.
With a focus on the state of modern Spanish as it’s spoken throughout the world, each chapter includes practical activities including guidance on how to develop a research project. Throughout the book students will learn how to develop and execute a study focused on understanding language variation, language change and sociolinguistics.
A companion website provides additional resources including a beginners’ guide to quantitative methods in linguistic analysis and a range of research tools and associated instructions to assist in the exercises and research projects. An instructor’s guide provides tips on how to teach specific concepts along with more advanced exercises that will allow a course to be oriented to both undergraduate and graduate students.
