Bellaria is innocent, but Pandosto's jealousy drives him to order the murder of Egistus and the banishment of Bellaria. The rest of the novel follows the tragic consequences of Pandosto's actions, as he realizes the error of his ways and tries to make amends. The novel explores themes of jealousy, love, betrayal, and redemption, and is considered a classic of Elizabethan literature.
