Frank Kendon (1893-1959) was a British poet, academic and critic who worked for Cambridge University Press from 1935 to 1954. Originally published in 1945, The Time Piece is a poem by Kendon that ‘deals in short direct descriptions of earthly, rural, English things, and is much concerned with the small-scale goings-on of men and women and children and insects and other such earth-walkers, with a background awareness of the solar system upon which, unknowing, they depend’. This is a beautifully written text that will be of value to anyone with an interest in English poetry and the works of Kendon.
