Life Unpacked

Life Unpacked shares the compelling true story of the author’s life in Beirut, Lebanon, before and after the 1967 Arab-Israeli War. Barbara Childs shares her perspectives and invites readers to see life through her eyes as an eleven-year-old United States Embassy Diplobrat. Everything that she experienced prepared her for the unexpected circumstances she would encounter later in life as an adult.

This book shares details about the author’s father who was in the Navy and worked his way up through the government working as a civilian at various Air Force bases in the United States. He was called by the U.S. government to take a job at the American Embassy in Beirut and have his family accompany him. This book shares the grippingly complex details about how the author felt about life in the Middle East as a diplomat’s daughter. She shares her thoughts, emotions, and perspectives after mingling with the locals in Lebanon, Syria, Turkey, Yugoslavia, Greece, and Italy. Over the years, the author learned so much about herself and those around her. Although it wasn’t always easy, her past taught her how to be strong. She now is a Certified Life Coach helping women become brave and unstoppable.
