The story of my 50 year search to find my birthmother. I began my search at 18. I was told my adoption records were sealed and was not able to get any information on my mother. I was heartbroken. I had been waiting until I was 18 to go to the Superior Court house in Los Angeles to find out who my birthmother was. When I was informed that she had not been looking for me, I was devastated. I had such a burning desire to find her. I had wonderful parents who raised me, however, I wanted to know her story and why she had to give me away. I joined different adoption organizations, but was unable to obtain any information. Not until years later after writing to the Department of Social Services in Sacramento, did I get some non-identifying information. I was able to get bits and pieces of information regarding my birthmother and birthfather. They did not provide any names. I felt I was back at square one. Not until 2015 did I join 23 and me and hire a private investigator in 2016 did I finally get answers. I never could have imagined what they would uncover.
