Our Process and Goals for This Book This children’s book was put together by my sister, Jacqueline Patterson, and myself, Reponsal Perkins. It was designed for the purpose of encouraging an audience of children and mothers with special needs. While organizing some ideas for our book, we decided to focus on putting into perspective the gathering of children and spiritualty; while keeping in mind the disproportionately-impacted people of color with disabilities in this socio-economic society during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic.
As stated by the United Nations Human Rights, We acknowledge people with disabilities, as they are disproportionately impacted due to the attitudinal, environmental and institutional barriers which are reproduced in the COVID-19 response. There can be discrimination in ethnicity pertaining to the administration of cultural support, financial support, and educational tools. Thank God for the communities, families, and churches! Their support can be unified through raising awareness for better accessibility to health care, improved communication, specific formats, counseling, and accessible COVID-testing. In this book we hope to reach people with disabilities through our Esther and Martha characters.
It is hoped that this book will be used as an educational tool for all people regardless of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, or sexual orientation.
