The Divide Itself is Emma Carson's attempt to describe what kept her in conflict with herself; it is work toward reconciliation. It considers change as survival, and what it means to name and claim our experiences.

Emma Carson is a poet and visual artist, an amateur bicycle mechanic, a member of a worker's union, and an animal lover. She earned her MFA in Creative Writing & Poetics from University of Washington-Bothell.
