PURSUIT: LIFE, The Big Game. A heads-up for the uninitiated.
This is the book I needed to find when I was thirteen years-of-age. It identifies the important things in life, the pitfalls and dangers too, but also the good and enjoyable things encountered while negotiating one's own path -- things which only many of years of experience or an elderly mentor are able to impart. Interspersed throughout are the tongue-in-cheek rules, excerpts from the fictitious BOOK OF LIFE, acting as signposts, which, if remembered, may well serve the uninitiated. Anecdotal material from the author's own life is unavoidably included, without which the advice offered would lose credibility. These true stories help to illustrate both ends of the good/bad spectrum encountered in life, allowing a young reader to imagine themselves in similar scenarios, perhaps formulating alternative methods of dealing with circumstances the author found himself in. The most important point made in this offering is, I hope, that life is completely unpredictable at times. No matter how strange fiction can be, life is quite capable of being far weirder and more surprising than any book story. Best to be prepared!
