Legacy is the memoir of Michael A. Sable. In 2018 at the age of 59, Mike was diagnosed with ALS. In spite of the external hardships imposed by the disease, or perhaps because of them, he cultivated a remarkable internal evolution: "For anything precious that I may have lost because of ALS, I've been blessed with something taking its place that I never could have dreamed of."
Mike was a man of many talents and interests, as this book details, but he never imagined he could be an author. Nevertheless at the end of his life he became passionate about writing as he sought to articulate his legacy. Composing this book fueled his struggle against his illness as it became the focus of his attention and a source of connection to his family members. Nearly paralyzed, he wrote this book with one thumb on his phone from 2021 to shortly before his death in 2022.
In these memoirs Mike tells of living with ALS; family history, stories, and memories; thoughts on community, leadership, and parenting; stories of his passions; and commentary for the times. The author's inimitable personality comes clearly through these pages with his gift for storytelling, irreverent sense of humor, and love for his family.
