This book reproduces the life of a person belonging to a special generation in China. The generation that grew up simultaneously with the communist country who experienced a series of political movements, including the notorious Cultural Revolution. Shortly after its end in 1976, some brave and fortunate ones went back to schools to remedy their lost decade. Some of them even came to the United States to study and work.

The book illustrates the life of a person who spent 17 years as both student and teacher in Tsinghua University in China. His personal experience would reveal the quiet environment of the campus in the 1960’s, as well as the drastic disturbance dominated for 10 years by the culture revolution.
