Lisa is a self-confident teenager, even though her classmates refer to her as stupid or freak: stupid because she knows nothing about TV shows, movies, or music; and freak because she occasionally falls asleep in class and cannot be wakened by any means.
Lisa confided a secret to Doctor Jamison, her psychiatrist; that she cannot be wakened because she is not sleeping, but is actually in the book she is reading. Jamison’s gift is to recognize the truth; he claims these dreams go to her brain as a false memories. Lisa likes Jamison and says they are soulmates.
