The Book of Tally is Book 1 of 7 in the series Magical Tales of the Shee.
THE ADVENTURE BEGINS...
Magical Tales of the Shee series is short, easy-read, cosy, middle-grade, fast paced fantasy- adventure. Packed with mystery, and magic, it's perfect for kids who love magic, hidden secrets, ancient prophecies and legends, castles, portals and daring quests. The cosy magical adventure series is set in a small Irish village and includes elements of Irish culture, folklore, ancient legends, traditions, and mythology.
The series will appeal to young readers ages 7-11 who are fans of the Fairy/Magic/Quests genre and are ready for more complex themes. Many contemporary fairy stories geared towards younger readers have simple storylines. With the inclusion of some risk, (very mild) evil villains (not that scary), mystery, and suspense, "Magical Tales of the Shee" will appeal to young readers who are ready to level up but are still developing readers. They may not have the decoding and comprehension skills, nor stamina to tackle longer more complex stories.
Book 1. The Book of Tally. This story is told by Tally herself, a quirky and adventurous ten-year-old girl living in the small village of Cloone, County Clare in the west of Ireland. Her family is poor, so she doesn't go to school. Instead, she spends her days exploring the spooky convent where her mother works as a washerwoman.
The story begins when Tally stumbles upon a hidden door that leads to a secret Fairy Library inside the convent. Enlisting the help of her skeptical brother Dara and her best friend Neve, Tally sets out to explore the library, while the nuns are away. Tally's discovery of the hidden library triggers an ancient Fairy prophecy that speaks of a human child destined to save Fairy Ring Forts and the Shee -fairies of Ireland-from destruction. Tally is named as the child chosen to fulfill the prophecy. With secrets to uncover and dangers ahead, Tally and her friends must find the courage to step into a world they never imagined.
Other books in the series; Book 2: The Book of Neve; Book 3 The Book of Dara; Book 4: The Book of Tailtiu; Book 5: The Book of Senan; Book 6: The Book of Oisin; Book 7: The Second Book of Tally.
