Honour. Family. Duty.
Those are the words of House Baxteel and what Rigan has lived by for the entirety of her twenty-six years of life. But despite her ambition and unwavering faith in the Gods, she will never be what she longs for. Rigan dreams of her name being sung in ballads, of becoming the hero in the tales of Elrin's history. And though she has done nothing but fulfil her duty, protect her family, and honour the promise the Anointed Houses made to the Divine Triad centuries ago, she knows it's not possible. Bastards are never remembered, not even when they achieve the unfathomable.
However, soon her status will be the least of her problems. There is a rebellion brewing amongst the common folk of Elrin, and it threatens the very peace the Anointed promised to uphold. Knowing she must put aside her dreams, Rigan goes north under her father's orders. After all, her brother, the real heir of House Baxteel, has never truly faced a foe and can not be trusted to lead with the other Anointed Houses.
But things are not what they seem and soon Rigan will realize despite her bravery and righteousness, she cannot stop what has already been set into motion...she cannot stop fate.
