One lovely spring day in Crescent River, when George Hamer was only eighteen, he met Harriett. In fact, George saved Harriett's life, and that was something neither she nor he could ever forget.

Several years later, in present day, after achieving a master's in engineering and working in the industry, George decides to start his own firm. He moves back to Crescent River, and his best friend, Scott, accompanies him on his new business venture. Unbeknownst to them both, Harriett has also studied engineering and has recently returned to Crescent River. When applying for a job there, she finds George and they are once again united. However, just when George's life couldn't be better, something terrible happens that leaves him in the throes of darkness.

Not only does he face hatred, death, and deliberate scheming, but his name and entire business could be tarnished forever. After finding Scott brutally battered, George must fight to keep his world from crumbling-and he will require the strength only faith and love can give him if he's to come out alive.
