Imagine being a bird who cannot see well! That is the dilemma that Bobo, a sweet cockatiel living in the Australian forest, deals with everyday. His poor eyesight makes it difficult for him to see images that are off in the distance and it makes it especially difficult for him to land properly. To make matters worse, the other birds in the forest always make fun of him.

What can Bobo do about that? He can listen to the advice given to him by a wise, old wompoo fruit dove named Gerald. While Gerald’s advice requires Bobo to rely on courage he isn’t sure he has, it ultimately greatly improves Bobo’s situation, teaches him to stand up for himself, and helps him make friends, even with the bullies. Bullies, after all, as Bobo comes to realize, are usually bullies because of their own insecurities and worries. Sometimes they just need to be shown a little kindness.
