Frankie Ryan leaves behind a small Newfoundland fishing community to study for the priesthood in Toronto. Within months seminary life begins to take a toll and he finds himself going through an intellectual and spiritual crisis that he can’t seem to work himself out of. He eventually finds that he has no choice but to leave the seminary.
