This is a kind story. This is a great read-aloud story. And this story is fun to read!!
The story is based on an idea from the book "The Three Billy Goats Gruff", which children love because of it's repetitive words, repetitive phrases, and it's satisfactory ending. It is also based on an idea from an Aesop's fable "The Lion and the Mouse", which teaches kindness and compassion.
In the story Rover the Big Yellow Dog guards Mrs.Smith's delightful vegetable garden to keep bunnies out. However, three chocolate brown Bunny Brothers, Ebenezer, Freddy, and Philbert want to get into that garden to enjoy some delightful vegetables for their lunch. The difficulty is, they first have to figure out some way to get past Rover. Things change when Rover has a big problem and he needs help! The Bunny Brothers come to his rescue and "save the day". Ever after, Rover and the Three Bunny Brothers are friends, best pals forever!
This story can easily and spontaneously be acted out as a play, ( suitable for ages 5-8 and grades K-2).
