Shapes in the Fire

First published in 1896, Shapes in the Fire is a collection of stories by Matthew Phipps Shiel. The book includes two novellas, 'The Primate of the Rose' and 'The Stone Chamber, ' as well as an interlude, 'Violet, ' and a prefatory essay by the author. The stories are characterized by their imaginative power, strange atmosphere, and Gothic themes. This edition includes the original illustrations by Sidney Sime.
