Esta obra de Francisco Javier Vergara y Velasco es una de las primeras cartografias sistematicas de Colombia y describe la geografia fisica, la flora, la fauna, la historia y las costumbres de las diferentes regiones del pais. Fue un gran avance en la comprension del territorio colombiano en el siglo XIX y establecio un estandar para futuros geografos.
