Henry Timrod

Henry Timrod was a poet and journalist who lived and worked in the American South during the mid-nineteenth century. Though largely forgotten today, his work was highly regarded by his contemporaries, and he was considered by many to be the unofficial poet laureate of the Confederacy. This critical study, written by George Armstrong Wauchope, provides a valuable introduction to Timrod's life and work, and offers insights into the cultural and intellectual milieu of the antebellum South.
