Fernando Cortes

In 1522, Cortes wrote five letters to the Emperor Charles V to inform him of the events that had taken place during his expedition to Mexico. These letters detail the conflicts he faced and the alliances he formed in his campaign. Additionally, they provide invaluable insights into not only the conquest of Mexico but into Spanish colonialism in general.
