Every 20 years, a human lass is chosen to join in marriage with the MacKay clan and fulfill the treaty set down many generations ago. But when Clan Healer Brigid Lewis is tricked into leaving her home, only to be tied to the stake in the bailey of the keep, she expects nothing but death and certainly not a gigantic green dragon to descend from the sky defending her. Aodhfionn MacKay is the eldest of four brothers and son to the Dragon King. He volunteers to take a human lass as his mate and fulfill the treaty with the humans, but when he sees Brigid is not a willing lass and therefore the treaty is broken, he battles with his dragon’s desire for his mate and his human side, knowing the right thing to do, is give her back. With his brothers eager to challenge him and take his place as heir, Finn and Brigid agree to a fake marriage until he can avenge her against her clan for forcing her into marriage and keep the treaty alive in the eyes of the dragons. But what they do not expect, is the growing affection between them. The thought of giving her up, however right it would be, could kill him.
