What’s in a banned book? And how can I get my hands on one?Those are the questions that drive Leo Belfin on a nightwalk through Arcton to retrieve ‘Dasher’s Revenge.’ But when Leo, his sister, and his cousin get busted with the banned book, they’re forced to drop out of school and instead join the Verdean Guard where they’ll join the war effort. Leo’s only priority after that is simple: stay alive. But when a mysterious note appears under his pillow, followed by a supernatural event, Leo’s curiosity once again gets the better of him. What’s the government hiding from its citizens? How had his father actually died? How come wars are fought with bows and arrows, and not with guns like in the past? Leo’s survival, along with the rest of his squad - which includes his sister, cousin, a boy-genius, and a curiously quiet boy - is dependent on finding the answers.
