I grew up the daughter of a divorced mom, who was a long-haul truck driver. Having a mother who broke traditional women’s norms was tremendously empowering and gave me a foundation ofcourage to try anything I put my mind to. Memories as a child were created from the passenger seat of a Peterbilt driving cross-country as opposed to baking cookies in the kitchen at home. However, in my mother’s absence whilst on the road, it took longer to learn important life lessons such as setting boundaries, self -love and finding a life partner who demonstrates respect. I share these memoirs from a place of love empathy and encouragement, hoping to be a catalyst to help guide others to reflect and grow from their own experiences. In addition to sharing Arial Starr’s stories, this book also includes a series of journaling, and art prompts as a springboard for reflection and to help inspire personal growth for young women. Other books that are similar to this include The Crossroads Between Should and Must by Elle Luna, Start Where You Are: A Journal for Self-Exploration, and When We are Body edited by Rachel M Vincent, Inspiration Sandwich by Sark.
