Glynnis Fawkes’s comics were published regularly on Muthamagazine.com, and nominated for the Small Press Expo Ignatz Award for Outstanding Online Comic. Alle Ego won the Museum of Comics and Cartoon Arts Festival Award in 2016. Greek Diary won a silver medal at the Society of Illustrators MoCCA Arts Festival Award for Excellence in 2017, and was shortlisted for the Slate Cartoonists Studio Prize. Her cartoons were published in both of issues of Resist!, online at the New Yorker, and the Strumpet. She was named among the Best American Comics Notables in 2012 and 2013 and won a Sequential Artists Workshop grant in 2013.
Her illustrations appear in many academic books including John Franklin’s Kinyras: the Divine Lyre (Harvard 2016), Three Stones Make a Wall by Eric Cline and the Book of Greek and Roman Folktales, Legends, and Myths by William Hansen (Princeton University Press). Fawkes’ illustrations have been published online at Popula, Spiralbound, Eidolon and the Washington Post, and have been exhibited at the Center for Hellenic Studies at Harvard University.
Fawkes will launch Persephone’s Garden alongside Charlotte Bronte Before Jane Eyre, part of the CCS Graphic Biography series (Hyperion), and will tour North America in support of both books.
