I first began writing these poems at the age of 15. Some of the thoughts being projected aren’t necessarily how I feel today at the age of 38. When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. (1) Nevertheless I felt compelled to present to you, a truth that was in a time, the testimonial meditation of my heart. Fortunately yet regrettably these poems were buried and forgotten within my own possession. For over two decades these poems were figuratively lost in the sand dunes of life that a whirlwind brought before me. These poems were inspired by love, infatuation, heartbreak, friendship, kinship, forgiveness, pessimism, optimism, pride, determination, admiration, marriage, life’s obstacles, geometry64, and a yearning to understand God at the top of my darkest hour. I sincerely apologize if you find any of these poems to be offensive or provocative in nature. However, Poetry in the Sand consists of a plethora of emotions and was brought to you courtesy of my forefathers. Without my ancestors’ courage to survive, this book wouldn’t be possible. Now without further ado, I present to you: Poetry in the Sand.
