Insights: If Boys Never Learn, Men Won’t Know

The world is a tough place, unforgiving at times, especially for young black men. With odds stacked against them, many believe they’ll amount to nothing because society tells them so. Oftentimes, these young men are demonized and become victims of the stereotypes that are projected onto them…a super predator , a thug , a drug dealer … a statistic. Raised without a father and orphaned at seventeen, Quincy Newell was told the same-but he didn’t listen. Instead, he chose to put his faith in God and decided to believe that he had a value that no one outside of him and God could determine…this self-realization helped him to establish his own self-worth and a set of personal standards that allowed Quincy to envision and then achieve a life filled with purpose. From his experiences, Quincy identified a set of insights that served as guideposts in navigating his life and helped to serve as a foundation for his life choices.
