As World War II comes to a close, FBI Agent Tom Warren is sent to the Philippines to help eliminate a communist uprising led by the Huks. What should be a cushy assignment in a tropical climate turns out to be anything but. Tom finds himself involved in a conflict with the Philippine government, the Chinese communists, the Japanese Yakuza, and most surprisingly, officials within the United States Army and the CIA. Every time Tom gets close to making a breakthrough on his assignment, he is sent into Hong Kong or Red China on a temporary assignment. Finally, as Tom’s frustration mounts, he reaches out to a former Filipino first lady, Aurora Quezon. While her information seems minimal, it is Tom’s association with her that provides the first critical breakthrough. On his last trip to Hong Kong, he gains the final pieces to accomplish his mission. However, this information is so dangerous, all of his informants are murdered, including his wealthy, sultry girlfriend, Izzy Scarbourgh. As Tom and the Philippine military move in to finish off the Communist Huks, he is distracted by the opportunity to kill his arch nemesis, Chinese Agent Dr. Wang.
