The Demonization of Mental Illness is the result of the journey of a suicide survivor and a survivor of suicide. After the loss of a family member to suicide, her spiral into clinical depression was both alarming and puzzling to her. After experiencing her medical and spiritual healing from depression, Dr. Scott began her journey to understand the complexities of mental illness and the broad stigmatization propagated in her cultural and religious communities. Realizing in a short time that the hurdles were deeply embedded and seemingly impenetrable, she set out to explore the biblical truths that would help aid others suffering in similar areas of various mental diseases and abnormalities. Demonization of Mental Illness takes an academic and theological look into the myths and erroneous viewpoints that perpetuate the silence of suffering individuals within the Body of Christ.
