I Remember Pat Summitt

Pat Head Summitt didn’t invent basketball, but no other person has done more to elevate women’s basketball into the national consciousness as she did. For thirty-eight years, starting at age twenty-two, she coached the University of Tennessee Lady Vols to almost unimaginable heights, winning eight national championships and 1,098 games. She is the winningest Division I college basketball coach, male or female, of all time. She was to women’s college basketball what John Wooden was to the men’s game a pioneer without peer.
