Located at the north of the Yucatan peninsula, Holbox island, Mayan for "black hole," is a vortex of biodiversity. However, Holbox faces environmental collapse due to the difficulties in management of its massive production of solid waste. This unique atmosphere and current ecological challenges have amplified the mission of our first eco-residency: to cultivate ecological awareness into our creative expressions.

The green flash is an optical phenomenon that occurs on the horizon, around sunrise or sunset, when the weather conditions are favorable. It is also the title of this anthology as it represents our collective yearning to create, in life and art, the most propitious conditions so that this planet continues to be a home for life in its multiple and vibrant forms.
