Rudyard Kipling was born in Bombay, India, in 1865, where his father was Principal and Professor of Architectural Sculpture at an art school. Kipling’s early years in India inspired much of his literary work, including The Jungle Book, which is a collection of stories, rather than a single narrative. The first three of these stories– Mowgli’s Brothers,
Kaa’s Hunting, and Tiger! Tiger! –are the basis for the Disney movie that used the name of the entire book.
This bilingual edition is designed to assist those learning French. The original English text appears on the left-hand pages of the book, with the corresponding French translation on the right-hand pages.
