Thomas Hooker played an instrumental role in Connecticut's history. He was a Puritan Minister as well as a statesman. Hooker's beliefs led him to become the founder of the Connecticut Colony. He believed that colonists should have a say in how they were governed. Hooker felt that all men had the right to vote and that they did not need to be members of the church in order to do so.
