Peter Puppy can’t sleep. He is lying in a basket under the light of the moon, with his two sisters and two brothers. Big sister pup can run fast. Frankie is smart. Little pup is brave. Polly is cute and roly-poly. I’m just ordinary! thinks Peter. So he decides to go into the wide world to have an adventure. He travels by foot, truck, train and plane to Paris, France. There he meets new friends. They take him to the Eiffel Tower, to the Louvre Museum. He meets the president, he paints on the Left Bank. Every morning he munches croissants with writers in the cafe. I am having a fine adventure! he exclaims. Meanwhile back on the farm in the basket in the barn, his two sisters and two brothers can’t sleep. Big Sister can’t run fast. Frankie gets stuck in the pigpen. Little runs away from Big Dog. Polly wakes up with wrinkled ears. They miss Peter! One night as Peter lies on his big bed with fluffy white pillows he looks out the window and sees the familiar moon. It is time to come home Peter Puppy, it seems to say. And he does. Back to the basket full of brothers and sisters under the light of the moon. Peter, just an ordinary pup, is home where he belongs.
