Sick, which Hicksville author Dylan Horrocks calls, a punch in the face and well worth reading, is the long awaited second graphic novel from cartoonist Gabby Schulz. Like his first graphic novel, Monsters (written as Ken Dahl), Sick focuses on health and social policy, this time expanding from the subject of STDs and their stigma, to the larger, hot button issue of national healthcare.
Since Monsters, Gabby Schulz has produced the limited edition comic, weather, and a host of online comics work. His web comic, SEXISM, was a viral sensation, written up everywhere from the Stranger to Scientific American. The web serialized Sick was nominated for the Ignatz Award for Outstanding Online Comic. Additionally, his work has appeared on narrative.ly and BuzzFeed and in Arthur Magazine.
Monsters, will be re-released alongside Sick. A Best American Comics selection, winner of two Ignatz Awards, an Eisner Award nominee and counted among the best books of its publication year by the Village Voice, Library Journal, and the Comics Journal, Monsters is returning in a special edition.
Schulz will be touring North America in support of Sick. He has a devoted following who greet him in great numbers at every appearance.
