Searching for Seven Treasures is the first book of The Hart Family Series. The story takes place in Southern Ohio and features the values of nature being preserved through Native American heritage. This first book features Granny Mabelle, who is the oldest living member of the Hart family, and a Native American Cherokee. She loves to spend time with her family and teach the younger members the Cherokee way of life she lived as a young child. The story is built around two other main characters, Lydie Hart and Molly May. Lydie is the great granddaughter of Granny Maybelle. She has been give the Native American name of Sunflower. Her constant companion and best friend is Molly May, her little dog. The Search for Seven Treasures begins one morning with Sunflower and Molly May visiting Granny Maybelle at her cabin. They do not know it, but their grandmother has planned a surprise for them that turns into a fun and learning adventure. Sunflower and Molly May are sent into the surrounding meadows and woods to search for natural treasures. Along the way Sunflower will witness several funny escapades involving Molly May. Molly is not sure what they are doing, but she knows that she loves being outdoors and spending time with her best friend, Sunflower. What Sunflower and Molly May will learn from this adventure is how Mother Earth supplied their Native American ancestors with natural treasures and how we still use these treasures today. The book is a fun filled learning adventure with an Activity Page at the end so the reader may experience their own treasure hunt.
