The Preeminence of Christ: Part One, To the Glory of God the Father

How can we really know someone without understanding his motivations? Part One surveys Genesis to Revelation to demonstrate the pervasive theme: God’s ultimate goal in all of His works is the glory of His Name. Many stumble at this, thinking it sounds egotistical. Yet God’s valuing Himself above all else is not sinful like prizing self would be for us. For God, it is right and holy because He is in reality the greatest worth!

Part One defines glory and name, but also shows that God’s glory is more than an abstract idea. God’s Being eternally manifests as a perfect, infinite Person - the radiant glory of God is God the Son. And the brightest display of God’s glory was on the dark Cross of Christ. Our salvation is not merely about getting us to heaven, but filling us with God’s glory in Christ. These weighty truths de-center us and draw us properly into God’s central and ultimate aim, in which we share His delight in His Son.
