What if watermarks were a map of grace?

I wrote these poems during some hard times when tears and watermarks were plentiful.

Have you ever seen water damage in a house? Where you can see how high the water was, and in that sight, you know so many things about the issues the homeowner will face. Well, these are my watermarks. These are moments in time when I thought the water would drown me. When I wasn’t sure, I would make it. Yet, in all those moments, even if not right away, those marks would be reminders of the grace of God. That God had brought me through. That this journey in healing might cost me a lot, but it could never cost me what it had cost him. His only Son.
