The Broken Butterfly is based on a true story. Raised by a bipolar mother Isabel never knew from moment to moment when the next verbal or physical attack would come. Growing up Isabel learned to be on guard at all times determined not to be broken by the physical and verbal abuse thrown at her daily. Unbeknown to Isabel even though she fought hard she was deeply affected. Falling in love at 16 years old Isabel left her birth country and started a new life. Becoming a mother at 20 years old Isabel was determined to give her children the love that she never had. When Isabel had her third child she was relieved to see that all of her children were healthy and there were no signs of depression in any of them. When her son turned 12 with signs of depression her heart constricted with fear. Doing everything in her power to help her son no stone went unturned as they battled his depression as a family. Believing he was broken, beyond repair Scott took his own life at 20 years old. This is their story. A story of love, pain, joy and forgiveness.
