Molly was unsure what she wanted to do next. Having worked as a General nurse and Midwife, she was now ready for a new challenge.
In 1979 she found herself attending an interview for the Health Visiting course not having a clue what she was letting herself in for.
This sequel to The Calling: Life as student nurse in the 1960s, follows the authors experiences as she is drawn into the world of Health Visiting. The job soon proved to be more challenging than expected as she re-calls the pressure she had to contend with as a newly qualified Health Visitor. What followed was a career in Health Visiting spanning over thirty- two years working in the Keighley and Burley-in-Wharfedale areas of West Yorkshire.
The book is written with understanding, humour and candour as she shares real stories about real people. Some stories are heart-breaking but there are lots of light-hearted moments with many laughs along the way. It also gives a glimpse into the changes in health visiting practice over the years.
